In moonlit waves, her voice does soar,
A mermaid’s song, forevermore,
Sailors’ hearts, to the ocean floor.
Beneath the stars, her melody weaves,
A haunting tune, of lost dreams grieves,
Echoing through the ocean’s sleeves.
Under the beacon’s steadfast glow,
She sings her lament, soft and low,
To ships that pass, where wild winds blow.
Lonely heart, in depths so vast,
Her song a tether to the past,
A siren’s call, forever cast.
Yet sailors hear her mournful cry,
As they sail ‘neath the midnight sky,
Bound by her song, they cannot defy.
So nightly, ‘neath the lighthouse’s gleam,
Her song drifts on the ocean’s stream,
A mermaid’s lament, a sailor’s dream.
I am feeling the lonely longing…the beauty & isolation of the sea in this poem. Incredibly beautiful!
